March 22nd Anniversary - March 22, 2017

On this date a year ago the surgical team from Smilow Cancer Hospital performed major surgery on me, removed a sarcoma tumor and saved my life. Quite a few people had a hand in saving my life. I feel like this is a new birthday. A re-birth day!

New CD coming soon! - March 4, 2017

My latest album on CD and at CD Baby will be ready at the very end of March or the first several days of April. Its title: Nothin But Fiddle And A Sarcoma Survivor. It will (as the title implies) have nothing but solo fiddle/violin on 16 tracks. A nice collection of fiddle tunes and old songs. I recorded all of them while still undergoing chemotherapy in Little Rock, AR. You may inquire here about the timing. Stay tuned!

I'm Past Chemo Now - February 27, 2017

I had my last chemo treatment just several days ago. Chemotherapy can have horrible feeling side effects on some individuals. Frankly I'm glad it's over for a while. I hope that I won't have to go through it again in the future. I've got plenty of new music in my head and it will be coming round more and more this Spring and Summer. Stay tuned!

More Chemo - January 5, 2017

Today, 1/5/17 I'm starting my second half of chemotherapy at the Winthrop Rockefeller Cancer Institute next to the University of Arkansas Medical School. I still have the leiomyosarcoma cancer. I'm not sure that I'll ever be in complete remission from this very aggressive cancer, but I am hoping for the best. These treatments should be over in late February. However, I am still performing at every decent event possible. I'm not letting cancer stop me in the meantime.

Weddings! - October 6, 2016

I seem to be doing quite a few of these this month. The more the merrier!

Fiddle Workshops - September 23, 2016

I am looking forward to scheduling and teaching more fiddle workshops in the future. I'll post more about those as they develop. They will be in various cities around the USA.

Little Rock - August 27, 2016

Looks like I'll be living in the city of Little Rock, AR for a while. Still playing music throughout Arkansas and west Tennessee. Playing more and more again and enjoying it. Ask me about weddings, parties and other events.

August 2016 - August 2, 2016

Hi everyone! I still have a website. I'm still playing and working. If I didn't mention it before, I'll mention it again. I am playing/volunteering on the violin/fiddle at the Winthrop Rockefeller Cancer Institute next to UAMS in Little Rock. On or around lunchtime each Wednesday. It's a very nice place to play next to the grand piano around the corner from the lobby.
I am connecting here, there, north, south, east and west in order to keep playing and writing/arranging music. That and studying and physical training takes up all my time. I like having a schedule. And I still teach a number of students, especially in the Little Rock area.
I will try to post on this News/Journal more often and list as many good dates and information as possible. Hiking around quite a bit, I still get tired occasionally but my playing has gotten stronger and stronger.
I am playing for the Sunday Brunch at The Pinnacle Valley Restaurant this next Sunday, the first one of August. They have the most delicious food. And a great catfish dinner on Friday nights. If you're in the area, please be there. Thanks!

Recovery - June 22, 2016

I have mostly recovered and amazingly well! I am playing and booking dates as much as possible. Please contact me here for more information on all the events that I play for.
Thanks everyone!

Radiation Treatment - May 21, 2016

Just an update. I'm almost half the way through with my radiation treatments. I plan to be back in Little Rock, AR for the last 12 days or so in June 2016 and then forward. I am lucky to have done as well as I have in recovery. Tomorrow will be 2 months since I had the leiomyosarcoma operation. I started playing violin/fiddle again a week after the operation and I've gotten much stronger. When I get back to Little Rock (home base for now) I'll start performing again and booking engagements. I've got a lot of work to do medically speaking and keeping up with the music. I've got a full plate. One thing I've tried to do is to stay in contact with more of my old Memphis connections. I plan to play a lot there as well as throughout Arkansas. In other words, as much as I can possibly do. Really looking forward to a more active life again, but I've learned a LOT in the meantime. All the best to all of you!
More later.

My Recovery From Major Surgery - April 25, 2016

On March 12th I had to be taken to the ER in Little Rock, AR. I was in horrible pain and could not stand up for over a few seconds. I was about to get a very bad blood clot. At Bapt. Hospital in LR they found that I had a sarcoma on my inferior vena cava but were unable to preform the complicated surgery. My sister got me accepted to one of the best cancer hospitals in the country, and one of the best surgeons. The Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven in Connecticut is the one. They performed surgery and I survived. It's been a tough comeback but I am making it. I plan to go on living for a while. I was in great shape before all this happened. As long as I'm alive I plan to make more music. I can still play and record! I will add much more later. My sister basically saved my life, with the help from a lot of others. More later! Bill

Stevie Was Wonderful! - November 6, 2015

Stevie Wonder and his huge rockin band and singers displayed powerfully why he is a living legend of American Music. The show at the Verizon Arena in North Little Rock AR last night was totally packed and totally Awesome! He had three keyboard players including himself, two full set drummers and another percussionist, two powerful bass players, two rockin guitar players, a six piece horn section, 10 strings, at least six to eight female and male backup singers and the conductor of strings was also a solo violinist. It was a powerful show and I was honored to play for him as well as all the other great artists I've had the pleasure to work with. People often forget how brilliant a pianist he is in addition to singing and harmonica.

Stevie Wonder Show - October 24, 2015

Playing in the strings orchestra backup for the Stevie Wonder show on 11/05/15 at Verizon Arena in N. Little Rock, AR
